When we introduced MatoKit I called it the fastest way to give Optimizely Opal agents trustworthy access to Matomo. The product resonated, but the name kept people guessing. So we have renamed the toolkit to OpalMind, broadened its scope, and made it fully open source for teams that want to inspect, deploy, and extend it themselves.
The mission stays the same: turn your Opal workspace into a Matomo-native copilot without burning months on custom integrations, brittle scripts, or governance headaches.
What changed with OpalMind?
- Open-source release – The entire codebase now lives at github.com/authorityab/OpalMind. Fork it, audit it, send pull requests, or spin up your own managed instance.
- Clearer positioning – The new name reflects what customers already use it for: analytics-grade tooling purpose-built for Opal agents.
- Expanded recipes – Playbooks for KPI health checks, consent-aware funnels, experiment baselines, and tracking updates ship with the repo so agents provide value on day one.
- Governance out of the box – Typed SDK, discovery metadata, scoped permissions, human-in-the-loop approvals, and rollout templates remain intact from the commercial release.
Why keep investing here?
OpalMind handles the operational friction that slows down LLM agents in analytics environments:
- Caches, retries, and timezone alignment stop background tasks from derailing agent runs.
- Opinionated tool metadata keeps prompts simple while preventing scope creep.
- Consent-aware defaults respect how Matomo data should be handled in regulated orgs.
- Deployment options (Docker, serverless, managed) let you meet security where it lives.
Quickstart
- Clone the repo and copy
.env.example
to configure Matomo API credentials plus your Opal endpoint. - Enable the tool packs (insights, tracking, experimentation) that match your workspace.
- Deploy via Docker, serverless function, or the included Node runner—OpalMind ships discovery metadata so Opal finds the tools instantly.
- Invite your agents to use the toolkit and monitor the included governance dashboard.
Roadmap highlights
- Full coverage for Matomo Experiments and custom dimensions.
- Agent-facing dashboards you can read and write through OpalMind.
- Localization helpers so distributed teams can operate in their native language.
